My name is Mrs. Maureen Litton. I have been a teacher since 1992 when I was hired to develop and teach the first K4 classes in our district. I have continued in that role each year after being hired. I received my Bachelors Degree in Education from Shippensburg University in 1992 and my Master's in Administration from Shippensburg University in 1999. I have also completed the coursework required for a Principal's certification.
I have had the pleasure of working in the early childhood field for every year of my teaching career. I have also worked to provide Title 1 instruction to students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6 and K. I currently work to provide Title 1 instruction to kindergarten students during a portion of my instructional day. I value this portion of my day as I am able to "follow" the growth and learning of some of my K4 students into the next year.
I thoroughly enjoy learning with my students each and every year. It is rewarding to provide learning experiences that open up the minds of young children to explore new concepts and new ideas. I work to teach students the importance of being kind to others, using words to solve problems or share ideas, taking risks or chances when encountering an unknown concept, and demonstrating the skills needed to work together in a group to solve a problem. Students are encouraged to not give up, do their best work, and to demostrate "grit" when things get tough or difficult.
I work to have open communication with parents/families so that this first year of school is easily managed and enjoyed by both the parents and the students. All questions/concerns are addressed as we work together to provide the best learning path for each student. We are on this journey together. I respect and thank you for your confidence in me and for allowing me to share in this important first year of your child's educational journey.
Now sit back and get ready for a great year of learning and fun!
